    Arapahoe District

We serve 4300 youth in the South Metro communities of Bow Mar, western Centennial, Cherry Hills Village, Columbine Valley, Englewood, Greenwood Village, Highlands Ranch, Littleton, Lone Tree, Roxborough and Sheridan. The Key 3 (District Chair, District Commissioner, and District Staff) meet on a montly basis to discuss the ongoings of the Arapahoe District.

    The District's Purpose

A Scouting district is a geographical area of the BSA local council, determined by the council executive board. District leaders mobilize resources to ensure the growth and success of Scouting units within the district's territory.

The purpose of the district is to work through chartered organizations and community groups to organize and support successful units. The end result of effective district support: more and more youth members receiving a better and better program.

    District Committee

The Arapahoe District Committee comes together on the 3rd Thursday of every month (except July) at 7:00pm at 8150 S Colorado Blvd, Centennial, CO 80122. The District Committee is comprised of 3 functions in the district, membership, finance, and program. Learn more about the district committee.

This committee coordinates all the functions of the district for the purposes of (a) organizing and supporting Arapahoe Distrct Quality Units, (b) carrying out the policies and objectives of the council, and (c) extending the program to the greatest number of youth.

District members at large are elected annually in the district annual meeting. All chartered organization representatives (selected by community organizations operating units) are automatically members of the council and of their district committee, thus providing close tie-in with chartered organizations.

    Arapahoe District Commissioners

The commissioner is a liason between the local council and Scouting Units. The commissioner's mission is to keep unit's operating at maximum efficiency, maintain regular contact with unit leaders, coach leaders on where to find assistance, note weaknesses in program, and suggest remedies. The commissioner is succesful when units effectively deliver the ideals of Scouting to their members.

    District Commissioner Staff

The District Commissioner Staff meeting is the 1st Thursday of every month (except July) at 6:15pm at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Highlands Ranch Stake Center (9800 Foothills Canyon Blvd). Helping unit's suceed is at the heart of the commissioner's staff. A unit commissioner is assigned to every unit to be a mentor and a guide to their functions and to keep them in the loop of district operations. Learn more about the Arapahoe District Commissioners.
